A SPEEDING truck crashed into a parked pick-up on the Dora Public Road, Soesdyke/Linden Highway on Saturday night, instantly killing a 60-year-old man and leaving another in a critical condition. Dead is Murvey Andrew Madhoo of Independence Boulevard, La Penitence, Georgetown, while Sherwin Rhodius is in a critical condition at the Linden Hospital Complex. Police Headquarters in a statement noted that the speeding truck was being driven by a 34-year-old male of Yarrowkabra village; his blood alcohol level was found to be below the prescribed legal limit. The accident occurred around 20:00hrs. Reports indicate that the parked pick-up, #GRR 4627, was on the western side of the road transferring goods to another pick-up when the driver of the truck, which was proceeding north, lost control and collided with the front, right side of the pick-up. The pick-up then collided with Madhoo and Rhodius, both of whom were standing between the two pick-ups.
Madhoo was taken to the Georgetown Hospital where he was pronounced dead, while Rhodius remains critical. A police investigation is in progress.
