Female security guard found dead at nursery school

SECURITY guard, Dooren Samarro, was seen motionless at the Savannah Park Nursery School, in New Amsterdam, hours after she had completed her tour of duty.

The 65-year-old woman of Douglas Street, Sheet Anchor, East Canje, had commenced work at about 07:00hrs on Wednesday and was scheduled to depart at 15:00hrs, but due to financial constraints and experiencing  nausea, she lingered around in the school’s compound.

However, later in the afternoon, she made contact with her supervisors at the Integral Security Service, relating to them her dilemma.

A taxi was sent to the location but when the driver (a former member of the Joint Services) arrived, he observed that the woman was in a slouching position in a chair and appeared lifeless. As a result, the security agency was informed after which a supervisor visited the scene.

According to Commander, Jairam Ramlakhan, Security Supervisor, Deonarine Kamra, reported that the now deceased was employed by Integrated Security Service for the past four years.

On Wednesday, she reported for duty at the Savannah Park Nursery School but complained of feeling unwell. She was then placed in a chair where she lost consciousness.

The supervisor reportedly tried to call the ambulance but was unsuccessful. About 19:20 hrs, he contacted the police who responded and found that the woman was unconscious.

Sergeant 19936 Webster, along with crime scene detectives, escorted the motionless body of Samaroo to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where she was seen and examined by Dr. Winfield, who confirmed her death.

A post-mortem on the guard is expected to be conducted shortly as investigations continue.
