Elderly woman succumbs to COVID-19

A SIXTY-NINE-year-old woman from Region Four on Tuesday succumbed to COVID-19 complications while receiving treatment at a medical facility.
Her death is the 189 th for the country and the 12th thus far for the month of February.
In the meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has recorded 51 new cases from 559 tests carried out within the past 24 hours.
Of these, seven were recorded in Region Three, 36 in Region Four, one in Region Five, four in Region Six and three in Region Seven.
Regions One, Two, Eight, Nine and 10 have not recorded any new cases.
There are currently eight persons being treated in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Forty-two persons remain institutionally isolated, while 555 persons are isolated at home. Seventeen persons are institutionally quarantined.

.Additionally, thirty-three recoveries were recorded for February 17.
All Guyanese are urged to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 emergency measures, which emphasise the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home, the importance of maintaining the six feet physical distance from others, and the need for good hand-hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
