KFC onboard with GMR&SC Drag Championship

WITH speed on the mind of every drag racer, the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club continues to garner support for its month- end drag racing event.
Fast food franchise, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), has continued their support of motor racing locally by being one of the first sponsors of the February 28 event.
Having already being a patron in not only drag racing but circuit racing and karting, the company has rejoined the quarter-mile shootout.
In an invited comment, Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) president, Rameez Mohamed, said, “We are glad to welcome a stellar sponsor such as KFC to drag racing.”
“They have been on board with us since 2018, sponsoring all our major meets, and they have also sponsored the GT motorsports KFC cup, so their investment in motorsport has been no small feat.”

Mohamed noted that, already, the committee is moving apace with preparations for the highly anticipated event that has been approved by the National Covid-19 task force, and since there has not been any drag racing since 2019, efforts are being doubled to ensure an almost perfect meet.
“I think this will be a fantastic race meet and we are expected to see a record amount of cars as was the case with the last Sunday’s Endurance Championship first round. The pandemic has left competitors hungry and has afforded them new times to make their machines better and even complete new race projects, so a day of much fun is expected.”
The GMR&SC has confirmed that the event will be live-streamed for the viewing pleasure of fans at home.
The club projects that around 100 participants will lineup for the 13:20hrs start, come February 28th and those desirous of competing can contact the GMR&SC via their Albert Street office or call 225-5457. Other sponsors of the event so far include Mohamed’s Enterprise, Prem’s Electrical, E-Networks, Motor Trend Service Center, Wind Jammer Hotel, Cyril’s Taxi, A&R Jiwanram Printery, B.M. Soat Auto Sales, Trans Pacific, Unicom United Commodities, MMD Hollow Blocks & Pavers, KGM Security, Ready Mix Concrete, Homeline Furnishing, Secure Innovations & Concepts Inc.
