AN 82-year-old woman who died at her Region 10 home on Tuesday is the most recent COVID-19 fatality. The diagnosis was made after the woman’s body arrived at a medical facility, whereupon it was tested via swab. The total number of COVID-19 deaths now stands at 182. While hers is the only death recorded within the past 24 hours, the Ministry has confirmed 51 new cases of COVID-19 out of 407 tests conducted during that time. A regional breakdown of the new cases will show that two of these cases were recorded in Region Three, 38 in Region Four, three in Region Seven, one in Region Eight, two in Region Nine, and five in Region 10. Regions One, Two, Five and Six have not recorded any new cases in last 24 hours.
All Guyanese are urged to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 emergency measures, which emphasise the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home, the importance of maintaining the six feet physical distance from others, and the need for good hand-hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
