WITH over 20 years of experience in the customs brokerage and the shipping industry, N&S Algoo Licensed Customs Brokerage Services Inc has opened another office on the West Coast of Demerara (WCD).

The new office, which is located at Lot 10 ‘A’ Public Road, Cornelia Ida, WCD, was declared opened on Sunday.

“It feels great to know that it is the first of its kind of a brokerage office on the West Coast, Region Three, and Guyana, and I stand to be corrected. We did some research, and we found that there is no brokerage company in Guyana that has branched off,” Marketing & Finance Director Sabrina Algoo said.

The Marketing & Finance Director stated that many customers residing in Regions Two and Three had expressed their dissatisfaction with having to travel to the capital city to access the company’s services.

“We know how this feels, and we have established this office to make them more comfortable. We have a lot of customers who live on the West Coast, and they always wanted to feel comfortable with an office here.”

Sabrina also stated that persons living on the West Coast of Demerara would be able to tap into job opportunities when available.

The building, which was under construction for some five years, will also see a family Bistro coming on stream soon. Sabrina said that the restaurant would be open only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

“There aren’t many restaurants that cater for the Muslim community and also like a family-oriented environment. I have friends with special-needs children, and I have noticed that restaurants are not ready for those kinds of dining because all children are different,” Sabrina concluded.

The company also took the opportunity to thank their customers, staff, family, and friends who have supported them to make this dream reality.

In February 1998, Sabrina and her husband Nandalall Algoo, met at their first place of employment – Didco Trading Co, where they both worked in the Shipping & Customs Brokerage Department.

In December 2000, the couple got married, and in August 2001, Nandalall sat the Customs Brokerage Examination and became a successful licensed customs broker.

He was dubbed the youngest person back then to be qualified as a licensed customs broker at the age of 23.

As her husband’s then small business began to grow, Sabrina had to resign from her post as Marketing Director at C&V Caribbean Shipping Limited after 10 years to assist him with opening the first office, which was located at the Kaylaan Mall on Lamaha Street.

On December 3, 2012, they were forced to acquire a bigger office and bought a building at 49 Public Road, Kitty, Georgetown. They are still housed at this location.
Over the years, the company has been blazing the trail in the brokerage industry.
