POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the removal of a number of documents from the Office of the Public Service Commission (PSC) at Fort Street, Kingston, Georgetown.
The commission’s building is located in the Local Government and the Ministry of Public Works Compound, which is usually protected by security guards.
Reports indicate that flash drives with information about dismissals, transfers, appointments and pensions of public officials were stolen between Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
An employee of the PSC, on Tuesday morning, turned up for work and discovered that his work station and desk were tumbled.
Subsequently, he raised an alarm and checks were made throughout the building and it was discovered that several offices were broken into.
However, there was no sign of breakage or forced entry into the building itself.
Reports further indicate that when the police were called in, they discovered that the security cameras were not recording.
The police have contacted the security company as investigations continue.
