Endurance racing action has been pushed back by one week.

OFFICIAL word from Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) has confirmed the postponement of the season’s opening Endurance race meet.
Initially set for January 24, the meet will now be held on January 31 according to president of the Club, Rameez Mohammed.
“Due to some urgent track work that needs to be done, we have had to push back the Endurance meet by one week. I hope our drivers can understand that this is for their importance as we do not want to put them in unnecessary danger,” Mohamed said.

While the work will not take long, according to the GMR&SC president, he wants to ensure that it is done properly so as to not do the same thing twice.
“It isn’t a big lot of work that needs to happen but we want to be sure that once we complete this, we won’t need to go back and do any more work in that section.”
Already, several competitors have geared themselves for the event after the COVID-19 pandemic cut short the racing season in 2020.
Many competitors have expressed faith in the club putting off the event, albeit under a strict COVID-19 policy.

“We are going to have a limit of two drivers and specific mechanics per car; our pits are more than 6ft wide but we will utilise every other pit to ensure that teams are spaced out and we also will do temperature checks of all individuals on race day.”
“Masks by our marshals and officials will also be strictly enforced as well as sanitation points for all our competitors. We are also mandating all personnel to utiliee gloves and other safety equipment,” the GMR&SC boss stated.
Meanwhile the event has already secured sponsorship from Secure Innovations and Concepts Inc., First Class Auto and Sheriff Security among others.
