A 21-year-old labourer of Back Street, Patentia, West Bank Demerara, was, on Tuesday evening, attacked by a cutlass-wielding bandit, who relieved him of his mobile phone.
According to the police, the victim, at the time of the incident, was walking along the Patentia Public Road on his way home. Reports are that he was approached by a man who pointed a cutlass to his neck, and demanded that he hand over all his valuables. The victim, being fearful for his life, handed over his LG cellular phone valued $40,000. The bandit then escaped on foot.
The matter was reported at the Wales Police Station by the victim. Ranks checked the area but did not find the suspect.  The police investigation is ongoing.
