A SIXTY-ONE-year- old driver, who was found with an illegal .38 revolver and five matching rounds in the vicinity of the Demerara Harbour Bridge, West Bank Demerara, was arrested by police on Thursday. Police said the man is a resident of Charlotte Street, Bourda, Georgetown. Reports indicate that at the time of the discovery, the suspect was driving a motor car when a party of policemen drawn from CID Headquarters, and lead by an officer, observed him acting in a suspicious manner and decided to stop him. A search was conduct on the 61-year-old man and the vehicle he was driving. Following the find, the driver was arrested and taken into custody. He is assisting police with their investigation.
