Decomposing body found at Kara Kara

A DECOMPOSED body believed to be that of a male vagrant, was, on Wednesday, discovered in an abandoned building at Kara Kara, McKenzie, Linden after residents complained of a “stench”.
According to reports from the police, the body is of East Indian descent and the only name given is “Ziek” of an unknown address. The Guyana Chronicle was made to understand that the man, for the past year, did odd jobs in the neighbourhood in exchange for money or food. A resident of Accabre Drive, Kara Kara, stated that “Ziek” came to her home on Christmas Eve to do some work, but left after complaining of feeling unwell. She said that between December 31 last year and January 1, a stench blanketed the area, but she and residents assumed that an animal had died. However, on Wednesday, after the stench became unbearable, they decided to follow it. This led to the discovery of the body, which was lying in a flat wooden dilapidated and abandoned building on Accabre Drive. A party of policemen visited the scene and discovered the decomposing body which was clad only in a black Jersey. The ranks combed the area for anything of evidential value but found nothing. The body was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex. After being officially pronounced dead, the body was transported to Wismar Hospital Mortuary to await identification and a Post Mortem Examination (PME).
