We look forward to a better 2021

Dear Editor,

UNFORTUNATELY, this year has seen life get a little more challenging, less certain, and more fearful. In tough times, we looked for hope; something to hold on to, something to look forward to, something or someone to say to us, “It will get better”. And while COVID-19 is still among us, we look for hope in one of the most joyful seasons of the year. The decorations, delicious meals, presents, surprises, love, laughter, time spent with our families, friends, and loved ones, and everything else that makes this season so magnificent is awaited by many, regardless of their respective religions and cultures. In this respect, we, the Guyana Islamic Forum for Education, Peace and Religious Solidarity, the Electric Mosque’s Presentation of the Teachings of Islam, in association with the Universal Peace Federation – Guyana, take this opportunity to extend Season’s Greetings to His Excellency the President, Dr. Irfaan Ali and family, distinguished members of the Government, the Opposition, and all our Divine brothers and sisters in Guyana.

One of the main elements of this season is that it promotes undeniable feelings of oneness and harmony; it is that time of the year when everyone comes together and bid farewell to the year, while praying for a year ahead that is prosperous, safe, healthy, and happy. In this light, may all the joys of the festive season fill your hearts and homes.
As the year draws to a close, we pray for hope in a world darkened by the shadows of uncertainty, and distress caused by the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, we advise you to remain vigilant. Keep wearing your mask, washing your hands, and taking every precaution against COVID-19. We also take this opportunity to urge all drivers and pedestrians while on the roadways to take special caution. We advise you to use safe driving strategies, adhere to the speed limit, do not take unnecessary risks, or drive under the influence of alcohol. To guarantee the safety of yourself and those on the road this holiday season, we ask that you please do your part.
Happy holidays.

Sincerely,
Hajji Dr. Roshan Khan
