PRESIDENT of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club, Rameez Mohamed, has forcecast 2021 as possibly one of the biggest years for the sport locally.

Speaking to Chronicle Sport exclusively yesterday, Mohamed, also a racer, disclosed that they have a packed calendar of activities.

“We have a huge calendar planned for 2021. For sure we are going to be very, very busy.”

“Drag-racing for sure is going to be hot. There are a lot of guys who have been building their cars in preparation for the year ahead,” he added.

“As it stands, 2020 affected us as much as every other sport and we are going to ensure that 2021 is memorable.”

According to the GMRSC boss, while 2020 was limited in its on-track activity, it was able to complete several infrastructure projects thanks to Team Mohamed’s Enterprise.

“We have to say a big thank you to team Mohamed’s. The work they did on the drag strip cannot be overstated and we are running out of ways to thank them.”

Circuit-racing is poised to see major investments in 2021

 CIRCUIT RACING

The GMR&SC boss was not only focussed on drag racing, saying circuit racing was poised for great development.

“Circuit-racing also has some major investors coming in so that will in turn affect endurance and all the other South Dakota-based events that we have”.

“There are lots of great guys who have come up from endurance. We have some great young prospects joining the sport as well. ”

The GMR&SC 2021 calendar races off with an Endurance event on January 24 while drag-racing action gets underway on February 14.

March 13 marks the start of the karting calendar with circuit racing set for March 23.

The next event on the calendar is Karting Round 2 set for April 24 with Endurance returning on May 8.

The second round of circuit racing is set for July 4 with the third round of karting set for July 17.

The international drag-racing event is billed for August 24 with Karting Round 4 set for August 21.

September 12 will see the Endurance series return for its third round with drag-racing third round set for October 3.

The international circuit racing event is set for November 7.
