LAST week I recommended we consider giving someone a gift that will empower and add some value to his/her life. I also recommend we support small businesses for the holidays. Businesses have suffered during the pandemic — especially small businesses. Let’s be intentional to support small businesses in this season and more so the one owned by women. We recently concluded the virtual Women in Business Expo and it was nice to see Mr Badal, owner of the Pegasus buy some beautiful creative plant pots from Debbie Argyle, who has exhibited every year in the expo.

He also instructed the staff to have some business cards for her at the poolside so people making enquiries can contact her. She was elated that her creation is now at the Pegasus and the possibility of new business opportunities, because of where it is positioned. One of the things I noticed during the expo is the restoration of confidence and hope which was diminishing over the months. Most of the businesses there have suitable products and services for the holidays and beyond. I believe we all can select a couple of small businesses to support. Not only buying is supporting, but referral and sharing the info on social media can also help. This exercise can make a difference to many people’s livelihoods in December and beyond. Some people may be saying I am not sure where to locate them because many operate from home to avoid the high overhead costs.
