BRITON John of We Stand United Club won the second stage of the Guyana Cycling Federation three stage Speed Time Trials yesterday in Linden.m The event, hosted by the Bauxite Flyers Club of Linden in the mining town saw the tables turned on stage one winner Marlon ‘Fishy’ Williams of Team Evolution. Briton took to the hilly terrain better than his opponents and was rewarded with a winning time 32 mins 34 secs. The second position was copped by Jamual John of Team Coco, who covered the distance in 34 mins 08 secs to better Williams time of 34 mins 30 secs which relegated him to third spot.

Clivecia Spencer won the female segment

They covered a distance of 13.5 miles going to Moblissa Hill and back to the starting point at K D and J Supermarket on the Linden Highway. The Veterans Race which was also up to Moblissa Hill and back saw Segon Hubbard of Team Evolution finishing first in 36:58 from Alex Mendes of Roraima Bikers who clocked 37:00 and third was unattached Kwame Ridley in 37:37. The Juvenile / Juniors race was up to Bamia over 8.5 miles and won by Aaron Newton of We Stand United in a time of 24 mins 08 secs with second place taken by Roraima Bikers Alex Leung in 24:11 and third position occupied by Mario Washington of Flying Ace in a time of 25:20.

The Ladies race ended with victory for Linden’s Bauxite Flyers Clivecia Spencer in 26:38 with Susan Hamilton who is unattached taking second in 28:38 and third was Denise Jeffrey of Team Coco. The top finishers in the juniors and juvenile race got trophies and cash incentives were handed to the top three finishers in the other category races. This event in Linden was made possible by the kind compliments of KD&J Supermarket, Bolo’s Variety & Furniture Store, Ele’s Trading & Hardware, Benard’s Variety Store, Well Point Service Station, Country Grill, Semple & Sons Hardware & Variety Store, O&O Construction Service and Sandgate Hardware.
