A POLICEMAN who allegedly had sex with a 13-year-old female relative almost one year ago on Wednesday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Rondel Weever.

He was not required to plead to the indictable sexual activity with a child family member charge.

It is alleged that during the month of December 2019, at a city location, the accused engaged in sexual penetration of the teen while knowing, or could reasonably have been expected to know that she was 13-years-old and was his cousin.

According to the prosecution, during the month of December 2019, the child stated that she exited the shower and proceeded into the bedroom. She was wrapped in her towel. She stated that the accused entered the bedroom a few minutes later and had unprotected, vaginal sex with her.

It is alleged that during the month of October 2020, the accused made attempts to engage in sexual activity with the child. The child was able to record a short video of him trying to remove her pants. The matter was reported and the accused was arrested and charged.

The matter was adjourned to December 16.
