DEAD: Dr. Wesley Torrington

A 60-year-old medical doctor and lecturer of suburban Marigold Street, Roxanne Burnham Gardens, South Ruimveldt was discovered lying motionless in a chair in the living room of his one-flat wooden home on Friday.

Dead is Dr. Wesley Torrington, who, according to the police, lived alone and was last seen alive on Monday last by one of his neighbours. He had reportedly told the said neighbour that he was not feeling too well, but after not seeing or hearing from him since, the latter decided to call out to him on Friday, at about 11:00hrs.
After not getting any response, the neighbour called in the police, who, on arrival, discovered the doctor motionless inside the house.
His body was checked for marks of violence but none was seen.

Police said checks conducted on the home showed no signs of forced entry, neither was it ransacked.
The body is currently at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting an autopsy, while investigations continue.
Meanwhile, close friend, Pastor Wendell Jeffrey said of the late Dr. Torrington, “He was a scholar, spiritual leader, professor, confidant, walking medical encyclopedia, and so much more. I have never met a more humble and well-rounded medical doctor.”

One of his students, Luke Pearson, said Dr. Torrington was one of the most brilliant doctors he had ever met.
“His dedication to the progression of medical education is almost unmatched; he was always looking for some way to restructure the way in which we were educated, so that it would be better,” Pearson said, adding:

“He was also one of the few persons who believed in his students’ ability to overcome any struggle, and even provided avenues for us to do so. He will be missed within the medical fraternity; we’ve lost one of the greatest minds, but we’re still left with the priceless knowledge he imparted. We will make you proud, Dr. Torrington.”
