WITH the primary focus on improving performance, Home Affairs Minister, Robeson Benn, recently held the first inter-agency meeting with Joint Service heads, the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU), law enforcement officers and stakeholders.

The meeting was held at the Police Officers’ Training Centre, Camp Road, Georgetown.
In attendance was Adviser to the Minister on Security, Harry Gill, and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mae Toussaint Jr. Thomas.
Issues discussed at the event included procedures, corruption, inter-agency sharing of information, revision of past performances, planning and executing projects and maximising results.
Permanent Secretary Thomas said the purpose of the monthly meeting is to understand the performance level of the various agencies as well as what plans have been developed and are currently being developed for the year 2021 and beyond.

“After just 100 days in office, the current administration has already accomplished a number of significant promises of which several agencies have played, and, are playing, a pivotal role,” she said.

The Permanent Secretary is looking forward to working with all of the agencies with the aim of improving services to citizens.
