THE ‘Men in Maroon’ received a warm welcome upon their arrival in Queenstown Lakes, compliments of Queenstown Lakes District Mayor, Jim Boult who met with the West Indies team recently.

Mayor Boult paid a special visit to the West Indies men’s team which recently relocated to their new ‘safe bubble’ in the beautiful city of Queenstown, New Zealand.
Head Coach, Phil Simmons, along with Chief Selector, Roger Harper and members of the team, were told by Mayor Boult that they were the first international group to visit since March after the Covid-19 pandemic broke out.

Mayor Boult explained that he visited the Caribbean before and it was beautiful, thus ensuring the party that the Queenstown setting is similar to that in the Caribbean and, as such, they should enjoy their stay in the town and wished them the best for the series, adding that he will be looking forward to seeing them out on the field.

The Mayor also noted that he would be available for anything should the team need him, to which Windies team Manager, Rawl Lewis, thanked Mayor Boult for the hospitality, comfort and in making the entire team feel welcomed.

Meanwhile, the team will continue their training sessions as they prepare for the upcoming practice matches against New Zealand ‘A’, which bowls off on November 19.
