GGMC official survives execution attempt

A COMPANY secretary employed with the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) survived an execution attempt, after a gunman shot him while he was driving home on Broad Street, Montrose, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

The GGMC officer was identified as 44-year-old, Jacque Foster and the shooting occurred at 19:00 hrs on Thursday night.
Investigation revealed that the victim left his office at GGMC, Brickdam, Georgetown, in his motor vehicle, for his residence.

As the GGMC manager reached Montrose, ECD, he turned north into Broad Street, Montrose, ECD.
Police said that, at that time, he noticed an identifiable man standing about 15 feet away from the corner, facing east, who appeared to be urinating.
As he drove past, the suspect turned around and pointed a handgun at him and discharged a round, hitting him on his right hand and, in the process, shattering the right side front door glass.

As a result, the victim pulled out his licenced firearm and discharged two rounds at the suspect and drove home. He was subsequently escorted to the Woodlands Hospital by his wife and treated by a doctor on duty who extracted the war head and sent him away.
No one has been arrested. Police are investigating.
