“Our team in Cabinet everyday have to sit down and look at the resources we [have] got and the demand of the people, and try to put it into the most prioritised areas. There is so much work to be done, and while we want to provide for everybody we only have this emergency budget, but the government is still working. We intend to make sure all Guyanese benefit and have a better life,” said Minister Indar.

Additionally, he disclosed that at the Belle West Scheme, the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) following consultations with the Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) will start work on a roundabout which will create a better flow of traffic in the scheme.

Minister Indar stated that congestion of traffic in the area during peak hours, was one of the major issues raised by residents.
The residents during the outreach also raised concerns about crime in the area, the water supply and the need for jobs, better electricity and drainage.
Minister Indar committed to making contact with the Housing and Water Ministers and inviting them to the area to make an assessment of how they can provide relief to the residents.

The minister told the residents that some of their concerns can be dealt with now, while others would have to be dealt with in the 2021 budget.
Region Three Vice-Chairman Omesh Satyanand, lauded government’s intervention in the issues facing residents.

He stated that both the road and the roundabout will bring relief to the residents. He added that these works could see further development of the housing scheme as it would allow easier access for persons transporting building materials.

“These works that are being undertaken will benefit the residents. The residents always have an issue with the bridge there, so we are glad that the roundabout would somewhat ease that congestion, especially during the hours that persons are trying to get home or to work. And the road that is being constructed, many persons would benefit; there are farmers down there that would benefit when they have to transport their produce, so I’m glad that the road is being done and the residents are too,” Satyanand said.

He used the occasion to inform residents that the RDC is undertaking works of its own to cater to their needs. He stated too that the RDC is currently doing drainage and irrigation works in several communities in preparation for the rainy season.
