Teen boy unconscious following hit-and-run accident

POLICE are on the hunt for the driver of a car which struck down a 14-year-old boy, on Saturday night, in the vicinity of a tyre shop on the Annandale Public Road, on the East Coast of Demerara.

Police Headquarters, in a statement, noted that the teenager was proceeding east on his pedal cycle on the northern side of the road while his friend was riding in the same direction but on the inner side.

It is alleged that the car (make and colour unknown) was also heading in the same direction behind the pedal cyclists when he collided with the rear of the pedal cycle ridden by the victim, at around 23:45h. Police said the teenager fell on the road and received injuries about his head and body. He was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was admitted at about 03:00h with a fractured skull.
He remains in a critical condition.
