AMERICAN Airlines will resume scheduled commercial flights to Guyana on Monday with six flights per week until November 17 and daily thereafter.
This was confirmed by Director-General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority, Lt. Col. (ret’d), Egbert Field
Incoming passengers are being reminded that they must present a negative PCR COVID-19 result from a test that was taken within 72 hours of their travel.
The Eureka Lab has the capacity for on-arrival testing and has expressed its readiness and availability to do so at the Cheddi Jagan Internatonal Airport (CJIA).
American Airlines also requires travellers to provide confirmation of being COVID-19 free two weeks before travelling.
“When you check in, you’ll be asked to confirm you’ve been free of COVID-19 symptoms for the past 14 days. Staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others from getting sick,” the airline’s requirement noted.
The airline also requires mandatory face coverings, except for children under two years old.
“If you decline to wear one, you may be denied boarding and future travel on American [Airlines],” the airline warns.
For those passengers with a negative test result within five to seven days, they will have to subject themselves to an additional test upon arrival in Guyana at the airport. The passengers will have to stand the cost for that test.
