TORONTO, Canada, (CMC) – Guyana’s Sunny Singh rode a rare double but remained in single digits at Woodbine as marquee jockey Patrick Husbands missed out in the day’s feature, the CAN$250 000 Wonder Where Stakes, with favourite Curlin’s Voyage.

Riding on Sunday’s 11-race card highlighted by the Wonder Where – the third leg of Canadian Triple Tiara – Singh produced wins in race four over 6-½ furlongs with 12-1 choice Victor’s Dynasty and in the $101 200 race seven with 22-1 outsider Desolater, going 7-½ furlongs.

There was disappointment for Barbadian Husbands, however, failing to deliver with trainer Josie Carroll’s three-year-old filly Curlin’s Voyage as 6-1 bet Merveilleux snatched victory by three lengths in the Wonder Where.

His older brother, Simon Husbands, tasted success with his 10th win of the season, guiding 4-1 bet Patrol to a narrow victory by a head over favourite The Reign Man, in a six furlong sprint for the three-year-olds and upward.

Singh, meanwhile, grabbed his seventh and eighth wins of the season, with clinical rides to ensure he got his name onto the headlines at the western Canada racing oval.

First, he partnered with four-year-old brown gelding Victor’s Dynasty to beat the three-year-olds and upward by a neck.

Pace-setter Handsome Like Me was chased by Awesome Miner with Miss Ariel stalking before Singh brought Victor’s Dynasty from mid-pack to get up late.

Singh then won a cash rich allowance, bringing five-year-old brown gelding Desolator with a late charge to beat the three-year-olds and upward by half length.

Auburn Hills battled Palace Coup and Town Cruise before Singh dragged Desolator from dead last to clinch victory in the closing strides.
