Motorcyclist killed in Sheriff Street accident

A 68-year-old resident of La Penitence, Georgetown, was Monday morning killed after a motorcar collided with his motorcycle on Sheriff and Dadanawa Streets, Campbellville, Georgetown.

Dead is Martin Monize; the 43-year-old driver of the car, of Mocha, East Bank Demerara, was arrested.
Police, in a report, said that the car was proceeding north along the western lane on Sheriff Street, while motorcycle, CF 9989, was proceeding south along the eastern lane on the said street.

As both vehicles approached Dadanawa Street, the car turned east and collided with the motorcyclist. According to police, the motorcyclist was flung into the eastern gutter on Sheriff Street.

He was picked up in an unconscious condition by the driver and public- spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The body is at the Memorial Gardens Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
