SIX weeks after being shot by two men on a bicycle in front of his Drysdale and Lombard Streets hardware store, 70-year-old businessman Lennox Robinson finally succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
Robinson, who lived in South Ruimveldt Park, but for years ran Robinson’s General Store on down-town Lombard Street, was reportedly shot on September 2 and never regained consciousness. According to the police, he died at around 16:00h on Monday at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Reports indicate that the businessman, as was his wont over the years, was sitting on a chair in front of the business establishment when at around 12:10h, he was confronted by two men on a bicycle.
Police said that during the course of an argument among the men, which quickly developed into a physical altercation, Robinson, who was ‘licensed to carry’, was
relieved of his gun and shot by one of the suspects, who later escaped with the weapon.
No arrests have as yet been made, but according to the police, the matter is still being investigated.
