RESIDENTS of Parika Backdam have lamented that they have not had access to potable water over the past two to three years and have to pay exorbitant sums to purchase water supplies.
The residents share their concerns to Guyana Water Inc (GWI) Chief Executive Officer, Shaik Baksh, who, along with a technical team, visited the community to listen to concerns.
The team also visited the Hubu well station to assess the water production levels there.
Discussions with the CEO included repairing the many leaks along the distribution system and installing connections on the transmission mains
This would improve the level of service and pressure towards the end of Parika Backdam, which comprises about 30 households.
The installation of approximately two kilometers of six-inch pipelines and service connections, for which funds would be required, is also needed, a GWI release said.
