FORMER Opposition Leader and leader of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR), Robert Corbin is hospitalised after being tested positive for COVID-19.

The 72-year-old lawyer and politician was in a serious condition on Tuesday but is now listed as stable after being admitted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital at Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown.
Corbin became weak at home and a decision was made to have him hospitalised after he exhibited coronavirus symptoms.

His wife, Carol Corbin, who is head of the Public Procurement Commission, has also tested positive but has not shown serious symptoms and has self-isolated at home.

Corbin, who was first elected to the National Assembly of Guyana in 1973, handed over leadership of the PNC in July 2012 to David Granger, who was elected President of Guyana in 2015 but lost the elections in 2020.
