Pooran sparkles briefly but Bravo’s Super Kings break losing streak

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Oct 4, CMC – West Indies left-hander Nicholas Pooran entertained briefly but once again flattered to deceive as his Kings XI Punjab suffered a heavy 10-wicket defeat to Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League here Sunday.
Entering at number four, the 25-year-old smashed a 17-ball 33 with a four and three sixes to help power Kings XI to a competitive 178 for four off their 20 overs at the Dubai International Stadium.

Pooran put on 58 for the third wicket with captain KL Rahul whose 63 came from 52 balls and included seven fours and a six.
With Punjab looking to accelerate, Pooran perished at the start of the 18th over, skying a heave at seamer Shardul Thakur to be caught at mid-wicket.
Rahul had earlier handed Kings XI a solid start when he posted 61 off 49 deliveries for the first wicket with Mayank Agarwal who struck a 17-ball 26.

Veteran West Indies all-rounder, Dwayne Bravo, in only his second game of the tournament, finished wicket-less from four overs which cost 38 runs.
In reply, Super Kings raced to their target with 14 balls to spare as South Africa Faf du Plessis smashed an unbeaten 87 and Australian Shane Watson, a pulsating 83, in a record opening stand.
Du Plessis belted 11 fours and a six off 53 deliveries while Watson counted 11 fours and three sixes off an identical number of deliveries, as Chennai snapped a three-game losing streak.
