DELHI Capitals (DC) climbed to the top of the IPL 2020 points table after they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 18 runs in the match No. 16 of Indian Premier League (IPL).

After sent to bat first, DC rode on skipper Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 88 and Prithvi Shaw’s 66 to score 228-4 in their allotted 20 overs.

KKR, on the other hand, failed to cross the finish line as they were restricted to 210-8.

DC have now won three of their four games and have 6 points in their bag. They have an economy rate of +0.588.

Delhi are followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who won against Rajasthan Royals earlier in the day to register their third win in the tournament. They currently have six points and a net run rate of -0.954.

Meanwhile, defending champions Mumbai Indians are now at third place in the IPL 2020 points table with 4 points.

Talking about the Orange Cap list then, Royal Challengers Bangalore opener Devdutt Padikkal smashed 63 off 45 balls against Rajasthan Royals yesterday to become the fourth-highest run-getter in IPL 2020 so far. He smashed 6 fours and 1 six during his innings.

In the process, Padikkal became the first player in the IPL history to hit three 50+ scores in first four matches of the tournament.

The 20-year-old batsman, who made his IPL debut this season, has so far accumulated 174 runs in four games including three half-centuries. His average is 43.50.

Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab batsman Mayank Agarwal continues to lead the Orange Cap chart, while his skipper KL Rahul is second on the list.

CSK’s Faf du Plessis stays at No.3 with 195 runs followed by new entrant Devdutt Padikkal, while RR’s Sanju Samson remains at fifth place in the Orange Cap table having scored 171 runs in four matches.

On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore spinner Yuzvendra Chahal became the latest Purple Cap holder yesterday as he bagged three wickets against Rajasthan Royals in the match No.15 of IPL 2020.

Chahal dismissed RR batsmen Sanju Samson, Robin Uthappa and Mahipal Lomror in his allotted four overs of the game.

Overall, the wrist-spinner has bagged 8 wickets in four matches of IPL 2020 and he is on top of the Purple Cap holder list with an economy of 7.18.

Chahal is followed by Kings XI Punjab pacer Mohammad Shami who also has 8 wickets in his kitty and an economy rate of 7.86.

Delhi Capitals pacer Kagiso Rabada is third on the list with 8 wickets to his name, while Mumbai Indians spinner Rahul Chahar and KXIP pacer Sheldon Cottrell are fourth and fifth on the list respectively.

Mumbai Indians will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad, while Kings XI Punjab will lock horns with Chennai Super Kings today at 15:30hrs IST and 16:30hrs IST respectively.
