Cop injured in Lusignan accident

A 25-year-old police constable, on Tuesday, sustained injuries to his right knee after he was allegedly struck from his motorcycle by a motor lorry on the Lusignan Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Londale Todd of Friendship, ECD who is stationed at the Tactical Services Unit (TSU) was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation in a stable condition.
Police, in a press release issued on Wednesday, said the driver of the motor lorry is in custody at the Vigilance Police Station.

According to the police, around11:45 hours, Todd was proceeding west along the northern driving lane of the southern carriageway of the roadway, when the motor lorry, driven by a 26-year-old resident of Beterverwagting, ECD, collided with the rear of his motor cycle. As a result of the collision which occurred in the vicinity of S&S supermarket, Todd fell onto the roadway and sustained injuries about his body.

He was picked up by public-spirited citizens in a conscious condition, placed into a vehicle and transported to the GPHC where he was examined by the doctor on duty and later admitted.
Police investigations into the accident are in progress.
