FORMER National youth batman Dominique Rikhi struck his second and third half-centuries over the weekend to lead the New Jersey Stallions to their opening victories in the USA Cricket-organised exhibition matches of T20 Minor League Cricket (MLC).

The opening batsman, who had hit 76 runs in a loss to the Empire State Titans the weekend prior, struck 71 from 62 balls last Saturday when his team tackled New Jersey Somerset Cavaliers Cricket Club, and 56 from 38 balls on Sunday when they played the New England Eagles (A).

Stallions batted first at Howe Athletic Complex, in New Jersey, and were able to score 149-3 from their allotted overs with Rikhi scoring almost half of the total. The Berbician, who started his cricketing career with Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, clobbered two sixes and four fours in his innings.

In reply, Somerset Cavaliers were bowled out for 104 in 19.2 overs.  Gavon Brown picked up 4-9 from 3.2 overs to lead Stallions’ bowling attack.

On Sunday, Stallions vice-captain Rikhi was again in a no-nonsense mood at the Athletic Complex. He belted three sixes and three fours in his innings, which helped his team to a 26-run victory.

For the first wicket, the Berbician and Savan Patel (40) put together 75 runs, which was key in the side reaching 169-5 from their allotted overs.

Former Guyana and West Indies batsman Assad Fudadin had a start with the bat, in the Eagles’ chase, but his run-a-ball 33 runs (2x4s, 1×6) could not lead his team to victory as the overs expired with them on 143-6.
