CHILDLINK Guyana is among several organisations and individuals adding their voice to brutal slaying of two teenagers who lived at Number Three Village, West Coast Berbice.
In a Zoom programme on Tuesday, Communication Coordinator of ChildLinK Guyana, Shaquita Thomas, lamented that there were no words that can describe the horrible way, the teenagers were brutally murdered.
Thomas said that communities are responsible for protecting children in the communities; as such, she issued a clarion call for persons to be calm and sensitive regarding the shocking situation.
The Communications Coordinator also noted the gruesome way in which the teens were killed was uncalled for and should not have occurred.
The mutilated bodies of two cousins, Isaiah Henry, 16, and Joel Henry, 19, both of Number Three Village, West Coast Berbice (WCB), were found three villages away at Cotton Tree village in the backlands on Sunday September 05, 2020.
The manner in which the youths met their demise has sent the villagers in a state of shock and anger as they took to the streets in protest, burning tyres and blocking the roads demanding justice.
A 57-year-old man and several others have since been arrested, based on information provided to the police. Up to press time, they remained in custody assisting with the investigation.
