PUMP attendant and sluice operators attached to the Regional Two Administration can now be able to effectively carry out their work, especially in the nights, now that the Regional Electrical Department has installed solar lights on the drainage structures.

The move will provide adequate lighting around the structure and will assist operators during the rainy seasons. According to Regional Executive Officer, Devanand Ramdatt, previously, the sluices were dark and whenever checks were made, things were not visible.

This, he said, hampered the productivity of operators, and as such, the regional administration decided to install the lights to assist.  He also commended the efforts of the regional electrical team for their efforts and said the lights will be useful when it comes to opening of the kokers at night to facilitate adequate drainage.

He also said the pumps and sluices are government’s property and should be properly secured. The Regional Electrical Department’s electrical team has already installed solar lights at various locations.
