PUBLIC Works Minister, Bishop Juan Edghill, and a team from the sea defence department, on Thursday morning, conducted a fresh assessment pertaining to ongoing sea defence works at Content/ Dantzig, Mahaicony.

There was a 100-meter breach in the sea defence.
Also in attendance were local authorities inclusive of Regional Chairman, Vickchand Ramphal.
Residents complained about the harsh effects of flooding in the area. After these consultations and receiving recommendations from the residents, along with the urgency of the works, a decision was made to have another contractor on site.

A meeting with the technical team and local authorities established another route to access the site to transport machines and materials contrary to the previous advice given.

Minister Edghill said he is aware that residents are expecting the two present contractors, BK International and A&S General Contractors Inc., to complete their work that is ongoing in a timely manner. He pointed out that he will not be accepting any excuses for further delays.
