Convicted ‘sexual predator’ moves to the Court of Appeal

AFTER being sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment for having sexual activity with an under-aged girl, Kenrick Morrison is challenging his conviction and sentence at the Court of Appeal.
In 2015, Morrison was sentenced by Justice Jo-Ann Barlow at the Demerara High Court, after a 12-member jury found him guilty of ‘having sexual activity with a child under 16 years.’
The Judge, during her ruling, condemned the behaviour of Morrison who, she said, was expected to set a good example for others.
She expressed the expectation that the sentence would serve as a deterrent to persons who may be thinking of committing similar offences.
Morrison, has since moved to the Court of Appeal where he is requesting that his conviction and sentence be overturned.
