Taxi driver dies following Magic City nightclub shooting

A taxi driver of Diamond, East Bank Demerara was shot dead and several others were injured following a shooting at the Magic City nightclub during the wee hours of Sunday morning.

Dead is Raymond Lindo, 21.

Reports are that around 0400hrs on Sunday, gunshots rang out at the exotic bar which is located in Garnett Street next to the Fireside Grill foot entity.

Four other men were hit during the shooting and they were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for treatment.Reports are that one of the men,Edward Skeete, who was acquitted for murder in 2018, is said to be in critical condition.He has had several other brushes with the law including armed robbery.

It is unclear what sparked the shooting and this publication understands that Lindo died at the scene.The young man has also had several brushes with the law, including armed robbery.In 2018, he along with several others were arrested following an armed robbery carried out at Parika.

It is unclear how the nightclub has been able to open its doors in direct violation of COVID-19 measures.Police are investigating the incident.
