44 new COVID cases recorded

The Ministry of Public Health has reported that 44 new cases of the Coronavirus have been recorded in Guyana within the past 24 hours.

The highest ever increase to date, the new number  carries the total recorded in Guyana since the first case in March, to 474.

Reports are that most of  the new cases are from the Rupununi and they were mainly recorded in the North Rupununi villages as well as those in the South Central area.The Guyana Chronicle also understands that 2 new cases have been recorded in Region 8 at the border village of Itabac.

To date 4893 persons have been tested for the virus in Guyana.Of that number 4,419 negative  results were obtained by the authorities.
