NEW President of ExxonMobil Guyana, Alistair Routledge has arrived in Georgetown to officially take up his new post, and has expressed enthusiasm to continue operations in this country.

In an ExxonMobil release on Thursday, Routledge stated: “I look forward to joining this amazing team of professionals, learning more about Guyana and getting to know the Guyanese people, who are an integral part of our operations.” Routledge joins the team in Guyana after serving in a similar role in Qatar over the past six years. He replaces Rod Henson, who was recently named Vice-President, Wells, for ExxonMobil in Houston.

As President of ExxonMobil Qatar, Routledge was responsible for leading all ExxonMobil-affiliated activities in Qatar, as well as related international joint ventures with Qatar Petroleum in the United Kingdom (UK), Italy and the United States (U.S.). He received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Strathclyde Graduate Business School in Glasgow.

The new ExxonMobil Guyana President began his career with Mobil in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1990, and has since undertaken a range of individual, supervisory and managerial assignments for Mobil, and eventually ExxonMobil.

He has served in various capacities in engineering, operations, planning and commercial functions while working in the UK, U.S., Venezuela, Italy and Qatar.

Routledge will be joined by his wife, Nikki, while their two children are studying in the U.S. He is passionate about education, and an avid sports fan who is looking forward to being an active member of the Guyanese community.

“Guyana is the place to be; this is the future. I’m so excited at the opportunity. I see in Guyana a young workforce, very enthusiastic, talented and I just hope that we can hold on to everybody and continue to build the organisation,” Routledge said in a separate video message.

“For me, I would have accomplished what I set out to do if, when I leave, I’ve been able to build on this great foundation that is already in place, that Rod has led the organisation to and that we have moved forward and matured as a Company. The natural resources are those of the country and our job is to help the country develop the natural resource in a responsible way for sustainable future of the country.”
