TWENTY-FOUR-year-old Keyon Davis of Hibernia village on the Essequibo Coast was on Wednesday morning slapped with two counts of setting fire to public buildings in Region Two. He made an appearance before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court.

Davis was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was granted $200,000 bail on each charge. He was granted bail on the condition that he reports to the Suddie Police Station every Monday at 9:00 hours.

The charge stated that he set fire to the Government army building at Maria’s Lodge on July, 14,2020  and on that date, he also set fire to the Criminal Investigation Department Office (CID) department located at the Anna Regina Police station. The fire allegedly burnt several sections of the buildings.

Davis was arrested on July, 15 and  he denied the allegations.  The case will call again on August, 5,2020 at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court.(Indrawattie Natram)
