North West District man dies from COVID complications

Reports are that a 34-year-old man from the North West District died late on Wednesday afternoon at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) from complications attributed to the Coronavirus.

The man is said to be from the Matarkai sub-district of the North West District.

The Ministry of Public Health noted in its daily COVID-19 update on Wednesday that Guyana has recorded 5 new cases of the pandemic, carrying the total number of cases recorded to date to 313. Of that number, 139 are active cases.

Region One has become the epicenter of the virus with more than 80 cases recorded within the Moruca sub-region.In the Mabaruma sub-region, also in the North West District, 10 cases have been recorded to date. More than 30 persons have since recovered in Region One from the pandemic.
