POLICE are currently investigating the fatal accident at Delph Avenue, Campbellville, which claimed the life of an 18-year-old motorcyclist on Tuesday afternoon.

Dead is Elijah Ballard of Meadow Brook Gardens, Georgetown, who was the rider of motorcycle CF 4865.

The Guyana Chronicle was told that on Tuesday, around 14:00 hours, Ballard was proceeding north on Delph Avenue, at an allegedly fast rate, when he collided with motorcar HC 1527, which failed to stop at an intersection.

As a result of the impact, Ballard was flung off of his motorcycle, which resulted in him sustaining severe injuries.

He was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died while receiving treatment. The driver of the motorcar, who is a taxi driver, was arrested and subjected to the breathalyser test, which he tested negative. The man is in police custody assisting with the investigation. Meanwhile, Ballard’s family is calling for justice and for the police to conduct a proper investigation. Ballard was described as a hardworking and loving young man.
