– accomplice arrested after allegedly carrying out brazen daylight robbery
An alleged burglar was, on Wednesday afternoon, shot dead during an active robbery.
Dead is 20-year-old Kevin Orin Batson of Victory Valley, Wismar, Linden, who was, allegedly, one of two thieves involved in a robbery, which took place in the vicinity of One Mile Wismar, Linden.
According to police report, Herbert Campbell, a Linden businessman, was robbed of cash and other articles by Batson and his suspected accomplice, Keon Harlequin, who then escaped on foot.
Batson and Harlequin were subsequently confronted by the victim – a licensed firearm holder. In the confrontation, Campbell reportedly shot Batson, who had parted ways with his accomplice. The police, who were called in, then cornered the injured suspect and shots were fired. Batson was pronounced dead on arrival at Linden Hospital Complex.
Batson’s suspected accomplice, Harlequin was arrested at a house in Victory Valley, Linden, with a firearm and 2 rounds in his possession. Items belonging to the victim were recovered on the deceased.
Police investigations are ongoing.
