A 34-year-old man is currently in police custody for allegedly fatally stabbing his 22-year-old brother at their Sisters Village, West Bank Demerara (WBD) home during a fight on Saturday morning.
Dead is Timothy Hodge who was killed between 03:30hrs and 04:30hrs on June 6, 2020. According to reports, the two siblings lived with their mother at Sisters Village and would often fight, since they had an adversarial relationship.
During the period in question, the suspect arrived home late and noted that the door was locked. However, his mother opened the door and the suspect came inside and locked back the door.
A few minutes later, Timothy arrived home and the door was locked. He also called out for his mother, who eventually came and opened the door.
Timothy became angry and accused his mother of allowing his brother to lock him outside. In a fit of rage, Timothy went into his brother’s bedroom and attacked him with a piece of wood. In retaliation, the suspect sprang off of his bed, picked up a knife and stabbed Timothy to the neck.
The suspect and his mother immediately went and reported the matter to the Wales Police Station. The police went back to the family’s home and found Timothy lying in a pool of blood.
He was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. The body is currently at the Ezekiel funeral Parlour awaiting a post-mortem. The police also retrieved the knife and the piece of wood at the murder scene. An investigation is underway.
