Timehri man dies following Soesdyke accident

Police are investigating an accident at Soesdyke Public Road East Bank Demerara (EBD), which resulted in the death of pedal cyclist David Grant-Stuart on Tuesday, May 5,2020.

According to reports, on the day in question, about 16:00hrs on the Soesdyke Public Road,a white Honda-XR motorcycle which bears registration CK 2411 collided with Grant-Stuart, 44, of Ice House Road Timehri, EBD.

Enquires disclosed that the pedal cyclist was proceeding north along the western side of the Soesdyke Public Road and swerved in a easterly direction to cross the road.
However, he turned into the path of the motor cycle which was proceeding south along the eastern side of side of the said road.

As a result, the front of the motor cycle collided with the left side of the pedal cycle and both the pedal cyclist and motor cyclist fell unto the road way and sustained injuries.

Grant-Stuart was picked up in a unconscious condition by the driver of the motor cycle and public spirited citizens and placed into motor car.He was rushed to the Diamond Diagnosis Centre on the  East Bank Demerara, where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty.

However, he was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he died whilst receiving treatment.The body was then escorted to the Lyken’s Funeral parlour and is awaiting a post mortem examination.
A breadthalizer test conducted on the motor cyclist and revealed 0 percent alcohol.A further investigation is in progress.
