Remanded drug trafficker killed

POLICE are investigating the murder of remanded prisoner Jason Dundas, who was killed at the Lusignan holding bay on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

Enquiries disclose that Dundas, 30, formerly of Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara, was involved in an altercation with other inmates which resulted in a scuffle. He was reportedly wounded with improvised weapons made by the inmates.

Dundas was brought out by other inmates from the holding bay and he was examined by prison officers, who observed that he had injuries to the left side of his face and body.

He was taken to the infirmary and subsequently rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Dundas was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigation is still ongoing.

On August 27, 2019, Dundas was nabbed by police with over $21M (43.772 kilograms) worth in cannabis at his stall in the Stabroek Market area.

He was charged for drug trafficking and was remanded for the offence.
