Why the somersault?

Dear Editor
FINALLY, the coalition has described the Private Sector Commission(PSC) for what it really is – A PPP/C STOOGE. And who would not agree with this most appropriate brand, of the nation’s business – commerce umbrella that since very early after the MAY 2015 national elections, has become the major part of the PPP/C’s political bandwagon that fomented an attempted national insurgency against the duly elected APNU+AFC coalition government.
This stance of the PSC is the right wing reactionary role of this definably anti-coalition organisation of vested interests, in alliance with sections of the privately owned print and electronic media; elements of the Guyana Bar association, that in conjunction with a horde of PPP/C letter writers, launched a vicious daily attack of vintage misinformation, disinformation and fake news. It was akin to the anti-Salvador Allende insurgency, in Chile, in 1973.

Nevertheless, the point has been overwhelmingly proven, for we have since seen the entire state of play of the PSC’s true anti national intentions, and its scorecard, which have been often called into question in numerous letters, in your column.

There was no doubt of the PSC’s decidedly political agenda, plainly questioned in the state media, by Roy Beepat; but who has now finally put on his real political cloak, in a few missives in which he disrespectfully attacked both the mechanism of choosing and choice of the current GECOM chairperson, while pointing fingers at the appointment of judges who sat in recent cases of a constitutional nature. Notwithstanding the right of citizens to criticise now a fact of Guyana’s democracy, Beepat’s many statements departed from the realm of constructive criticism, descending into the realm of downright ugly disrespect, all in the devious name of furthering a dubious political agenda.

Editor, as also candidly stated in letters, this is about a category of the nation’s social sector, and their big money, that would have grown exponentially during the tenure of their benefactor’s regime. They would have missed the grand concessions; the numerous waivers, in addition to many of them not even paying their fair share of taxes. Add to that their, no doubt, heavy investment in the re-election campaign coffers of their political horse, and one would understand their frenetic actions, and statements such as writing the Organisation of American States(OAS), and now hypocritically bleating that a national recount is ‘’a waste of time.’’ Why the somersault, when they all were behind their political principal when he agreed with President David Granger that there should be a national recount?

One wonders what kind of democratic government are they talking about ‘’rightfully installing’’, when they were part of the criminal invasion of GECOM, that deviously stopped such a constitutional process from taking place, even kicking down the door of the office of the constitutional body’s chairperson, in what could have only been a pointed attempt to harm her person?

Editor, as stated above, this is an organisation of the moneyed class, that believe their financial economic pre-eminence gives them the right to make demands, even when it does not fit into the realm of the sanctity of the law; as well as to continuously make unfair and disrespectful remarks about the nation’s executive, and who continuously drive their anti-national agenda by dangerous anti-national statements which have not aided in a solution.

It is time that the government begins to respond in appropriate manner to such organisations, in exposing the many falsities of their narrative, and the deceptions and hypocrisy which they continue to unload, as part of a grand conspiracy to twist the meaning of democracy for their narrow-vested ends. For far too long, in the interest of peace and goodwill, has the coalition remained silent in the face of unfair attacks. It is time that they update the nation, and not let its silence be filled by vacuous anti -nationalists.
Finally, are we to understand by such statements that the PSC may be afraid what those ballot boxes may reveal?

Regards
Earl Hamilton
