TCL Guyana Inc. workers down tools amid COVID-19 concerns

OPERATIONS at the TCL Guyana Inc. (TGI) Lombard Street, Georgetown, Guyana office came to a standstill on Wednesday morning after workers reportedly down tools in protest of unsatisfactory measures to safeguard them against the COVID-19.

When this publication visited the facility, the security on duty confirmed the report but said that the striking workers had all left for home but would return in the morning to continue their protest action.

According to unconfirmed reports, the workers said they are unsatisfied with the way the management of the company is handling the COVID-19 situation at their place of work.
It is alleged that the company has made little or no plans to safeguard its workers in light of the pandemic. Efforts to reach management of the company proved futile.
