Reports are that a woman was brutally killed at Bartica in the Cuyuni/Mazaruni earlier this evening.

Dead is Natoya Speede, a mother of three who is a teacher at a primary school at Bartica. She was 37-years old.

According to reports reaching the Guyana Chronicle, the woman and her assailant had a heated argument and during the melee, the man allegedly fired several chops at the woman.

The incident occurred close to the Bartica airstrip around 20:00hrs and reports are that the gruesome act was committed in the presence of one of the woman’s children.

Police are hunting for a man who has been identified as Orrin King.
