‘Robbery under arms’ accused remanded

TROY GEVON of Golden Grove, Main Road, East Coast Demerara, and Gregory Bowman of Melanie, East Coast Demerara, having been charged for ‘robbery under arms’, were, on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, remanded to prison by Magistrate Faith McGusty.

Both Gevon and Bowman appeared before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge, when it was read to them.

Particulars of the charge stated that, on Monday, March 16, 2020, at Cornhill and Hadfield Streets, Georgetown, both Gevon and Bowman were armed with an offensive weapon, and, more specifically, an ice pick which they used to rob Winston Rogers of one cellular phone valued at $6000, one pair of Adidas boots valued at $11,500 and $17,000 cash.
Magistrate McGusty remanded the defendants to prison and adjourned the matter until Wednesday, April 8, 2020.
